Most long tunics and tops need one thing underneath them, which is a pair of plain, loose, full-length trousers that does not draw attention to itself. These are made for that job. The leg is straight from hip to hem, the fabric is a Tencel blend that hangs well, and the zip is at the side so the front stays completely flat.
The leg falls straight and loose from the hip without narrowing at the ankle, so the trousers skim the body and do not cling. With the zip at the side, there is no fly or button at the front. That matters when you wear them under a long top, because nothing shows through as a bump at the waist.
There are pockets, which are useful on days when you are wearing a tunic or dress without any.
The trousers measure 105 cm from waist to hem, which is long. Our model is 177 cm tall, and on her they reach the top of the foot. At around 160 cm they will be a few centimetres too long in flat shoes and will touch the ground.
You can handle that in two ways. A block heel or platform of 4 to 5 cm lifts the hem clear. For a permanent fix, a straight leg is the easiest shape for a tailor to shorten, and it is a small, inexpensive alteration. With white trousers it is worth doing, because a hem that drags will pick up dirt on the first wear.
Tencel is a branded lyocell, a fibre made from wood pulp. It is smooth, cool to the touch and absorbs moisture far better than polyester, so full-length trousers stay comfortable through a hot commute. The fabric has some weight to it, which makes the leg hang straight and swing when you walk. The 10% polyester helps the trousers hold their shape and keeps creasing at the knee and lap to a minimum after a day of sitting.
These trousers have no lining, and they are white, so choose what goes underneath with care. Seamless underwear in a nude or skin-close tone is the right choice. White underwear shows through white fabric more clearly than a skin tone does, and so does anything with a pattern or a dark colour.
They are designed to be worn with a long top. A tunic that covers the hips and thighs takes care of most opacity concerns. It also hides the pocket outline, which can be faintly visible on any pair of white trousers.
The simplest pairing is the white long-sleeve tunic top from the same Armagan Collection, which is made from the same Tencel blend. Worn together they make an all-white outfit for Friday prayers, a Raya morning or a daytime event. Add a printed or strongly coloured shawl and the shawl becomes the centre of the outfit.
Beyond that, white trousers go under almost any long top you own. Navy, black, olive, deep red and pastel tunics all work. In the office they lighten a dark top in a way black trousers cannot.
For shoes, tan, nude and white look cleanest. Black shoes work if your top or shawl is also dark.

Our model is 177 cm tall with an 86 cm bust, 63 cm waist and 94 cm hips. She is photographed in a size 38, which is not part of this run. If you normally wear a 38, compare your waist and hip measurements with the 36 and the 40 before choosing. When in doubt go for the larger size, since a slightly loose fit suits this cut and a long top covers the waistband.

Wash with whites only, in cold water, by hand or on a gentle cycle. Check the hems after each wear and treat any marks the same day, because ground-in dirt is much harder to remove later. Do not use chlorine bleach, which weakens the fibre and can turn white fabric yellow. An oxygen-based whitener is the safer option when the fabric needs brightening. If you wear these with the matching white tunic, wash the two together so both whites age at the same rate. Close the zip before washing, hang to dry, and iron on low heat from the reverse side.
