Some days call for trousers you do not have to think about. These are cut wide through the hip and thigh, with a waist that stretches at the sides, so nothing pulls or digs in when you sit cross-legged, climb stairs or spend six hours in a car on the way back to your hometown. They are made from the same Tencel blend as the rest of the Armagan Collection, which keeps the generous cut looking soft and not bulky.
Baggy cut means the volume is in the upper leg. The trousers are roomy from the waist down through the thigh and finish with a 27 cm leg opening, which is still wide but gives the hem a clean edge. Because the fabric stands away from the body, the outline of the leg is not visible, and that is the main reason many of our customers prefer this shape to a straight leg.
The waistband is flat at the front and elasticated at both sides. It sits smoothly under a long top and still has plenty of give. There are pockets as well.
The trousers measure 96 cm from waist to hem. Our model is 177 cm tall, and on her they sit cropped above the ankle. At around 160 cm the same length reaches the ankle, which gives full coverage and needs no hemming. For most Malaysian heights this pair will fit in length straight out of the parcel.
If you are 170 cm or taller and want the ankle covered, wear them with socks, or look at the straight cut pants in this collection, which are 105 cm long.
The Armagan Collection has two white trousers, and they suit different needs.
The straight cut pair is 105 cm long with a side zip and a fixed waist. It looks more tailored, covers the top of the shoe, and is the better choice for formal office days and for taller women.
This baggy cut pair is 96 cm long with an elasticated waist. It is roomier, easier to move in and more forgiving on size. It is the better choice for long days, travel, weekends and anyone under about 165 cm who does not want to alter a hem.
Both have pockets, and both are made from the same fabric.
Tencel is a branded lyocell, produced from wood pulp. It is smooth and cool on the skin, breathes well and absorbs moisture far better than polyester. In a wide cut like this one, the drape of the fabric matters a great deal. Stiff fabric would make baggy trousers stand out like a tent, while Tencel falls in soft folds and moves as you walk. The small polyester share helps the trousers keep their shape and crease less.
The trousers are unlined. The loose cut helps here, because fabric that hangs away from the skin shows much less than fabric that sits against it. Seamless underwear in a nude or skin-close tone is still the right choice, since white or patterned underwear can show through any white fabric. A top that covers the hips takes care of the rest.
Wide trousers look best under a top that hangs fairly straight. A long tunic or shirt that falls from the shoulder without much flare keeps the outfit balanced. A very full top over very full trousers tends to lose all shape.
The white long-sleeve tunic from the same collection is the obvious match for an all-white outfit. Any plain long top in black, navy, olive or a pastel works too.
At this length your shoes will be visible, so they are part of the outfit. Loafers, flat sandals and clean white sneakers all suit the relaxed shape. Let the shawl bring the colour, since white trousers leave you free to wear any shade or print you like.

Our model is 177 cm tall with an 86 cm bust, 63 cm waist and 94 cm hips, and she wears a size 38.
Size 42 is not part of this run. The elasticated waist and loose cut give each size more range than fitted trousers have, so if you normally wear a 42, compare your waist and hip measurements with the 40 and the 44 before choosing.

Wash with whites only, in cold water, by hand or on a gentle cycle. Treat marks on the same day, especially around the hem and the seat, where white trousers pick up the most dirt. Do not use chlorine bleach, because it weakens the fibre and can turn white fabric yellow. An oxygen-based whitener is the safer option when the fabric needs brightening. Hang them to dry, since a hot tumble dryer wears out the elastic in the waistband over time. Iron on low heat from the reverse side.
