These trousers have a shape of their own. They are full through the hip and thigh, curve gently down the leg and finish at the ankle with a 27 cm opening. In deep red, that shape becomes the main feature of an outfit, and the rest of what you wear can be very simple.
The volume sits in the upper leg, and the fabric hangs well away from the body, so the line of the leg is never visible. For modest dressing this is the most useful quality of a baggy cut. It gives the coverage of a skirt with the freedom of trousers.
The waistband is flat across the front and elasticated at both sides. It lies smooth under a top and stretches when you sit, bend or kneel. Both sides have pockets.
The trousers measure 96 cm from waist to hem. On our model, who is 177 cm tall, they are cropped above the ankle. At around 160 cm the hem reaches the ankle, which means full coverage without any alteration. If you are 170 cm or taller, plan to wear them with socks or ankle boots if you want the ankle covered.
The Armagan Collection has three pairs of trousers in this deep red, and each one is for a different buyer.
The straight cut pants are 105 cm long with a side zip and a fixed waist. They are the most tailored of the three and the best match for formal office wear and taller frames.
These baggy cut pants are 96 cm long with an elasticated waist and pockets. They are the most comfortable of the three and the easiest to fit, and they suit smart-casual days, weekends and travel.
The third pair comes only as part of the three-piece Scarlet tunic set. It has a similar relaxed shape at 95 cm, with a narrower 23 cm leg opening and no pockets. If you like the look of the set but want the trousers on their own, or want pockets, this baggy cut is the closest pair to it.
Tencel is a branded lyocell made from wood pulp. It is cool and smooth against the skin and handles moisture much better than synthetic fabric. For a cut with this much fabric in it, drape is what matters most. Tencel is fluid and slightly heavy, so the trousers fall in soft curves and do not balloon outwards. The 10% polyester helps them hold their shape through the day and reduces creasing.
They are unlined, which keeps them light. In a colour this deep there is no concern about show-through.
When the trousers are wide and colourful, a top that hangs straight works best. A long shirt or tunic that falls from the shoulder without much flare keeps the outfit balanced. A top that ends anywhere between the hip and the knee works well. A very full or tiered top over these trousers adds too much volume in one place.
White and cream tops give the freshest look for daytime. Black is stronger and suits dinners and evening events. Denim blue and soft grey also sit well with this red and are easy choices for the weekend.
The ankle-length hem shows your shoes, so choose them on purpose. Loafers make the outfit look deliberate, flat sandals suit hot days, and white sneakers make it casual.
For the shawl, stay with neutrals or a print on a neutral base. A plain shawl in the same colour as your top is the simplest option and always looks put together.

Our model is 177 cm tall with an 86 cm bust, 63 cm waist and 94 cm hips, and she wears a size 38. The elasticated waist and loose cut give each size a comfortable range, so choose your usual size.

Wash these on their own or with dark colours for the first few washes, because deep red fabric can release a little dye at the start. Keep them away from whites and creams in the machine. Use cold water, by hand or on a gentle cycle, and turn them inside out to protect the colour. Hang them to dry in the shade. Direct sun fades red quickly, and a hot tumble dryer shortens the life of the elastic in the waistband. Iron on low heat from the reverse side.
