Sapphire Vine Chiffon Scarf – Small 90 x 90

A lot of people wear black to work simply because it never looks wrong. Deep blue does the same job. It goes everywhere black goes, from a Monday meeting to a convocation dinner, but it sits more softly next to the face and looks less severe in photos.

The Sapphire Vine is a chiffon square in that deep jewel blue. It measures 90 x 90 cm, comes to us from Türkiye, and carries the trailing vine pattern shared across our Vine series.

A Quieter Take on the Vine Print

In the brighter colours of this series, the vine design is the first thing people notice. On a deep blue ground it looks more polished than playful. That makes Sapphire the easiest scarf in the series to wear to a conservative office, or anywhere you want to look put together without drawing attention.

Chiffon in a Dark Shade

Chiffon is a fine, sheer fabric woven from tightly twisted yarns, which gives it a soft drape and a faint texture under the fingers. It weighs very little, so a small square like this sits lightly on the head, even through a long day at a desk.

Colour changes how sheer chiffon looks. Dark chiffon lets less light through than pale chiffon, so sapphire hides what is underneath better than a white or pastel scarf would. It is still sheer, though. Wear an inner, and pick navy, black or a matching blue so it blends in instead of showing as a different shade around the edges.

Chiffon also slides more than cotton or rayon. Pin it under the chin and once more at the side. If it still moves during the day, a cotton inner gives it something to grip.

In an air-conditioned office, chiffon is very comfortable. It does not soak up sweat the way cotton does, and dark colours take in more heat in direct sun than light ones. For an outdoor afternoon event, a cotton scarf will feel cooler.

Is 90 x 90 cm Big Enough?

That depends on how you wear it. This is our Small size. Folded into a triangle, it covers the hair, ears and neck and ends near the collarbone.

It is shorter than a Malaysian tudung bawal. The everyday bidang 45 is about 115 cm a side, the same as our Large chiffon scarves. If you want the scarf to cover your chest, go for the Large. If you usually wear a high-necked top or a blazer anyway, the small square is quicker to put on and leaves less fabric bunched under your chin.

Ways to Wear It to Work

Tucked in. Fold into a triangle, pin under the chin, and tuck both ends neatly into the collar of a blazer or a high-necked blouse. It stays tidy all day, and nothing swings forward when you lean over a desk.

Crossed and pinned. Bring one end across the throat and around the back of the neck, then pin it above the opposite ear. The neck is fully covered and the line around the face stays smooth.

As a neck scarf. Fold it into a narrow band, loop it once around the neck, and let the ends hang at the front under a blazer. A blue band against a white shirt is a classic office combination.

After work. Untuck the ends and let them fall loose over the shoulders. It is a small change, but it takes the look from desk to dinner in a few seconds.

What to Pair It With

Sapphire sits well with nearly every neutral. Against white or cream it looks crisp. Grey keeps it calm and professional. Camel and coffee tones make it look warmer and a little more luxurious, and soft blush pink is a pretty pairing for a wedding.

Looking After Dark Chiffon

• Wash it on its own for the first couple of washes, because deep blue dye can run a little at the start.
• Wash by hand in cold water with a mild detergent. Press the water out gently instead of wringing.
• Dry it flat or on a padded hanger, out of direct sun. Strong sunlight slowly lightens dark blue, and the fading shows first on the parts left exposed.
• If it needs ironing, use the lowest setting with a cloth between the iron and the scarf.
• Dark chiffon shows dust, lint and white deodorant marks more than light colours do. A lint roller in your desk drawer fixes most of it, and letting deodorant dry before you dress helps with the rest.
• Store it loosely folded, away from velcro and rough jewellery that can catch the weave.
