Description

Most modest outfits put the colour on top and keep the trousers black or beige. Reversing that is an easy way to make familiar pieces look new. These trousers are a deep red, cut straight and loose in a soft Tencel blend, and they turn a plain white, black or cream tunic into a finished outfit.

The Cut

The leg is straight and roomy from the hip down and does not taper at the ankle. The zip sits at the side seam, so the front of the waist is flat and nothing shows as a bump under a long top. There are pockets, which many long tunics and dresses lack.

How They Differ from the Scarlet Tunic Set Trousers

The Armagan Collection also has a three-piece Scarlet tunic set, and the trousers in that set are a different design. Those are 95 cm long with an elasticated waist and no pockets. These are 10 cm longer, close with a side zip and have pockets. If you want full-length coverage over the shoe and somewhere to put your phone, this is the pair to choose.

Length

The trousers measure 105 cm from waist to hem. Our model is 177 cm tall, and on her they reach the top of the foot. At around 160 cm they will run a few centimetres long in flat shoes.

A heel of 4 to 5 cm solves that for the day. For a permanent fix, a straight leg is the simplest trouser shape to shorten, and any tailor can do it quickly. A dark red hem hides dust better than a white one, but fabric that drags on the ground will fray over time, so the alteration is worth doing.

The Fabric: 90% Tencel, 10% Polyester

Tencel is a branded lyocell made from wood pulp. It is smooth and cool against the skin and takes up moisture much better than synthetic fabric, which keeps full-length trousers comfortable in the heat. It has enough weight for the leg to hang straight and move well when you walk. The 10% polyester helps with shape and keeps creasing behind the knee and across the lap low after a day of sitting.

The trousers are unlined. In a colour this deep, that is not an opacity concern. It simply makes them lighter and cooler to wear.

Styling Coloured Trousers

Keep the top plain and let the trousers carry the colour. A long white tunic gives the sharpest contrast and is the easiest pairing for the office. Black makes the red look richer and suits evening events. Cream and beige soften it for daytime.

Choose the shawl to match the top, not the trousers. A shawl in the same neutral as your tunic keeps the upper half calm, and the red then reads as a deliberate accent. If you prefer a print, pick one with a neutral base and a small amount of red in the pattern, which ties the outfit together from top to bottom.

Avoid wearing a second strong colour on top. Red trousers with a bright green or blue tunic is a lot for an office, and the two colours end up competing.

Black, tan or nude shoes all work. Gold jewellery suits this shade better than silver.

Care

Deep reds can release some dye in the first few washes. Wash these separately or with dark colours to begin with, and never with whites or creams. Use cold water, by hand or on a gentle cycle, and turn them inside out to protect the colour. Close the zip before washing. Dry them in the shade, because direct sun fades red faster than most colours, and iron on low heat from the reverse side.

Shipping & Returns

Every Benang Istanbul order ships within Malaysia through Pos Laju, and delivery is free once your order passes RM150. Malaysian shoppers order our Turkish scarves and shawls as everyday hijabs as often as fashion pieces, so every parcel gets the same careful handling regardless of what’s inside it. If your scarf arrives damaged, defective, or isn’t what you ordered, you have 7 days from delivery to let us know.

Delivery Timelines

  • Peninsular Malaysia: 2 to 4 working days once your parcel ships.
  • Sabah and Sarawak: 4 to 7 working days, since East Malaysia deliveries take a little longer to arrive.
  • Processing before shipping takes 1 to 5 working days. Add a day or two during major sales or festive periods, when courier volume goes up for everyone.

Shipping Cost

Orders of RM150 and above ship free, anywhere in Malaysia. Below that threshold, shipping is calculated at checkout based on your address and parcel size.

Returns and Exchanges

Because scarves and shawls are personal items, we sell most pieces as final sale. There are two exceptions:

  • Your item arrived damaged or defective.
  • You received the wrong item or the wrong size.

To qualify, the piece needs its original tags attached, no signs of wear or washing, and its original (or equally protective) packaging.

How to Report an Issue

Email info@benangistanbul.com or WhatsApp us at 017-661 4342 with your order number and a photo showing the issue. We’ll confirm whether it qualifies and send you the next steps.

Fabric & Care

Hand wash cold, skip the tumble dryer, and keep your scarf out of direct sunlight. That one habit protects the drape and colour of almost every fabric we work with, though each material has a few rules of its own worth knowing before you wash it the first time.

Silk

  • Hand wash in cold water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent or a few drops of baby shampoo.
  • Don’t wring it. Press the water out gently between two towels instead.
  • Dry flat, away from direct sun. UV light dulls silk’s natural sheen over time.
  • Iron on the lowest setting with the scarf turned inside out, or steam it instead.
  • Store folded inside a breathable cotton pouch. Plastic bags trap moisture and can yellow silk.

Chiffon

  • Chiffon is sheer and delicate. Hand wash in cold water and avoid twisting or scrubbing the fabric.
  • Air dry flat or over a padded hanger. A regular wire hanger can leave marks in the weave.
  • If you need to iron it, use the lowest heat with a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric.
  • Fold loosely once dry. Sharp creases are difficult to work out of chiffon later.

Cotton

  • Cotton handles a gentle machine wash on cold inside a mesh laundry bag, which protects the print.
  • Skip the bleach and fabric softener. Both wear down cotton fibres faster than expected.
  • Tumble dry on low, or line dry to keep the fabric looking newer for longer.
  • Iron on medium heat while the scarf is still slightly damp for the crispest finish.

Rayon and Viscose

  • Rayon loses strength when wet, so hand wash cold and handle it gently, without pulling or wringing.
  • Lay flat to dry. Hanging a wet rayon scarf can stretch it out of shape.
  • Iron on low to medium heat, always on the reverse side of the fabric.
  • Store flat or loosely folded rather than on a hanger.

Crepe

  • Hand wash cold and let the water pass through the fabric rather than rubbing it together.
  • Reshape the scarf while it’s still damp, then dry flat to keep the crepe texture intact.
  • Steam rather than iron where you can. That texture is part of the design, and a hot iron flattens it.

Twill and Linen (Keten)

  • Both fabrics tolerate a cold, gentle machine cycle, though hand washing extends their life.
  • Line dry out of direct sun to keep the print from fading.
  • Iron on medium heat while slightly damp. Twill and linen both respond well to a bit of moisture.
  • Fold rather than hang, so the weave doesn’t stretch out at the shoulders.

General Storage Tips

  • Keep every scarf away from direct sunlight and humidity. Both fade colour and weaken fibres over time.
  • Store delicate silk and chiffon pieces separately from heavier fabrics so nothing snags.
  • A cedar block or lavender sachet keeps moths away without the chemical smell of mothballs.
