Description

Long dresses are not practical every day. If your commute involves LRT stairs, a motorbike or a lot of walking between buildings, trousers make more sense, and the difficulty is finding a top long and loose enough to wear with them to the office. This set solves that by design. The tunic, trousers and belt are all cut from the same fabric in the same deep red, so the outfit is coordinated from the start.

The Tunic

The top measures 70 cm from the shoulder. On most heights that covers the hips fully and ends around the upper thigh. On a shorter frame it reaches a little lower. It is not a knee-length tunic, so if that is the coverage you want, one of our long dresses will suit you better.

It has long sleeves and a relaxed body, and the fabric belt ties at the waist. With the belt, it has the shape of a short wrap jacket. Without it, it hangs straight and loose, which many people prefer for a full day at a desk.

The Trousers

The trousers are 95 cm long with a 23 cm leg opening, a wide cut that narrows slightly towards the hem. The waistband is flat at the front and elasticated at both sides, so it sits smoothly under the tunic and still gives when you sit down or after lunch.

Our model is 177 cm tall, and on her the trousers sit cropped above the ankle. At around 160 cm the same length reaches the ankle or just below it, which is the fuller coverage most of our customers prefer. If you are tall and want the ankle covered, wear them with socks or ankle boots.

There are no pockets on either piece, so you will need a bag for your phone and access card.

The Fabric: 90% Tencel, 10% Polyester

Tencel is a branded lyocell, a fibre made from wood pulp. It is soft, breathes well and absorbs moisture better than synthetic fabrics do, which keeps a long-sleeved, full-length outfit comfortable in Malaysian heat. It also has enough weight to hang well, so the trousers drape instead of clinging. The 10% polyester helps the set keep its shape and crease less.

Wearing a Strong Colour to Work

A deep red outfit needs very little added to it. Keep the shawl quiet and let the set carry the colour. Cream, beige, soft grey and black all work, and dusty pink is a good choice if you want something gentler near the face. A red shawl is the one to avoid unless the shade is an exact match, because two reds that are slightly different tend to clash.

If you like prints, pick one with a dark or neutral base and only a little red in it. Gold jewellery suits this colour better than silver. Black or tan loafers keep it office-appropriate.

You can also wear the pieces separately. The tunic goes with black or cream trousers, and the red trousers work under a long neutral top, so the set covers more than one outfit.

Size and Fit

Available in European sizes 36, 40, 42 and 44.

Our model is 177 cm tall with an 86 cm bust, 63 cm waist and 94 cm hips. She is photographed in a size 38, which is not part of this run. The cut is loose, the trousers have an elastic waist and the tunic is adjusted with the belt, so there is more room between sizes than in a fitted garment. If you normally wear a 38, compare your measurements with the 36 and 40 before choosing.

Please check the measurements before ordering, because our returns policy only covers damaged or incorrect items.

Care

Deep reds can release a little dye in the first few washes, so wash the set separately or with dark colours at the start, in cold water, by hand or on a gentle cycle. Wash the pieces together so the colour stays matched. Dry in the shade, since direct sun fades red faster than most colours, and iron on low heat from the reverse side.

Shipping & Returns

Every Benang Istanbul order ships within Malaysia through Pos Laju, and delivery is free once your order passes RM150. Malaysian shoppers order our Turkish scarves and shawls as everyday hijabs as often as fashion pieces, so every parcel gets the same careful handling regardless of what’s inside it. If your scarf arrives damaged, defective, or isn’t what you ordered, you have 7 days from delivery to let us know.

Delivery Timelines

  • Peninsular Malaysia: 2 to 4 working days once your parcel ships.
  • Sabah and Sarawak: 4 to 7 working days, since East Malaysia deliveries take a little longer to arrive.
  • Processing before shipping takes 1 to 5 working days. Add a day or two during major sales or festive periods, when courier volume goes up for everyone.

Shipping Cost

Orders of RM150 and above ship free, anywhere in Malaysia. Below that threshold, shipping is calculated at checkout based on your address and parcel size.

Returns and Exchanges

Because scarves and shawls are personal items, we sell most pieces as final sale. There are two exceptions:

  • Your item arrived damaged or defective.
  • You received the wrong item or the wrong size.

To qualify, the piece needs its original tags attached, no signs of wear or washing, and its original (or equally protective) packaging.

How to Report an Issue

Email info@benangistanbul.com or WhatsApp us at 017-661 4342 with your order number and a photo showing the issue. We’ll confirm whether it qualifies and send you the next steps.

Fabric & Care

Hand wash cold, skip the tumble dryer, and keep your scarf out of direct sunlight. That one habit protects the drape and colour of almost every fabric we work with, though each material has a few rules of its own worth knowing before you wash it the first time.

Silk

  • Hand wash in cold water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent or a few drops of baby shampoo.
  • Don’t wring it. Press the water out gently between two towels instead.
  • Dry flat, away from direct sun. UV light dulls silk’s natural sheen over time.
  • Iron on the lowest setting with the scarf turned inside out, or steam it instead.
  • Store folded inside a breathable cotton pouch. Plastic bags trap moisture and can yellow silk.

Chiffon

  • Chiffon is sheer and delicate. Hand wash in cold water and avoid twisting or scrubbing the fabric.
  • Air dry flat or over a padded hanger. A regular wire hanger can leave marks in the weave.
  • If you need to iron it, use the lowest heat with a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric.
  • Fold loosely once dry. Sharp creases are difficult to work out of chiffon later.

Cotton

  • Cotton handles a gentle machine wash on cold inside a mesh laundry bag, which protects the print.
  • Skip the bleach and fabric softener. Both wear down cotton fibres faster than expected.
  • Tumble dry on low, or line dry to keep the fabric looking newer for longer.
  • Iron on medium heat while the scarf is still slightly damp for the crispest finish.

Rayon and Viscose

  • Rayon loses strength when wet, so hand wash cold and handle it gently, without pulling or wringing.
  • Lay flat to dry. Hanging a wet rayon scarf can stretch it out of shape.
  • Iron on low to medium heat, always on the reverse side of the fabric.
  • Store flat or loosely folded rather than on a hanger.

Crepe

  • Hand wash cold and let the water pass through the fabric rather than rubbing it together.
  • Reshape the scarf while it’s still damp, then dry flat to keep the crepe texture intact.
  • Steam rather than iron where you can. That texture is part of the design, and a hot iron flattens it.

Twill and Linen (Keten)

  • Both fabrics tolerate a cold, gentle machine cycle, though hand washing extends their life.
  • Line dry out of direct sun to keep the print from fading.
  • Iron on medium heat while slightly damp. Twill and linen both respond well to a bit of moisture.
  • Fold rather than hang, so the weave doesn’t stretch out at the shoulders.

General Storage Tips

  • Keep every scarf away from direct sunlight and humidity. Both fade colour and weaken fibres over time.
  • Store delicate silk and chiffon pieces separately from heavier fabrics so nothing snags.
  • A cedar block or lavender sachet keeps moths away without the chemical smell of mothballs.
